Perfume museums around the world
Almost everybody loves travelling. There are, however, many different types of travelers. Some people prefer spending many hours on a plane only to get to a distant island where they will do nothing else but lie on the beach and gather sunlight, happily snoozing under a tropical palm tree. Other travelers prefer visiting historic places, taking photos of architectural masterpieces and getting to know different cultures.
For all travelers, which love perfumes and prefer exploring when traveling instead of just relaxing at the beach, we have a rather interesting collection, named “The most popular perfume museums around the world”. Enjoy it!
The most popular perfume museums around the world:
“International Perfume Museum” Grasse, France
When talking about perfumes and perfume museums, we can’t start with anything else but the cradle of perfumery, Grasse, and its most famous museum, called “Musée International de la Parfumerie”, or International Perfume Museum. A true feast for the senses, this museum will fascinate you with perfume images, artifacts, as well as rich history and culture. It was back in 1918 when Francois Carnot opened the first private museum in Grasse. With almost a hundred years of history, the International Perfume Museum has several symbolic areas, which include the entrance pavilion of the ancient Hugues-Aîné perfumery (built back in the nineteenth century), the former Pélissier building, as well as beautiful gardens and leveled terraces with breathtaking views.
“Musee du Parfum” Paris, France
Musee du Parfum occupies an impressive 19th century mansion that will leave you breathless with its fabulous architecture and decoration. Opened in 1983, the museum is your ticket to travelling back in time in the world of perfumery, creating in your mind powerful images of perfume history from up to 3000 years ago. It houses an extensive collection of scented exhibits, perfume extracts, and perfume bottles. It is also the place to go if you want to be a witness of local and foreign artisans creating their perfume magic right before your eyes.
“Fragrance Museum Farina-House” Cologne, Germany

Except for the impressive collection of art objects, paintings, and showcases with glasses and flacons from antiquity to modern days, the museum offers its visitors the opportunity to sneak peek at the “chamber of essences”. The “chamber of essences” is a special museum chamber where you will have the privilege to take a look behind the curtains of perfume making and even smell some of the essences that are used in the art of perfume creation!
“Museo Del Perfum” Barcelona, Spain
Located at the very heart of one of the main cultural hubs in Europe, Barcelona, Museo del Perfum was opened in the 1960s. It houses an unusual collection of over 5000 artifacts from the world of perfumes, which makes it a must see stop for all perfume lovers.
